BJP Demands Mamata Banerjee’s Resignation After SC Hearing on Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 9th Sept. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, slamming her over revelations made during a Supreme Court hearing on the rape and murder of a trainee woman doctor in Kolkata.

The Supreme Court expressed concern over the absence of a crucial document needed for the postmortem of the victim, who was attacked at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The Court also highlighted a 14-hour delay by Kolkata Police in registering the FIR and instructed the CBI to submit a fresh report on the investigation by September 17.

BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Banerjee of being exposed during the Supreme Court’s proceedings. He described her as having a “dirty face” and alleged that the evidence in the case was compromised at her direction. Bhatia questioned whether the missing postmortem challan could have implicated the Chief Minister in an effort to shield Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the then-principal of RG Kar Medical College, and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

Dr. Ghosh was arrested by the CBI on September 2 for alleged financial misconduct at the hospital. Bhatia also criticized the Kolkata Police for providing only 27 minutes of CCTV footage to the CBI and demanded that Banerjee resign to ensure a fair investigation and justice for the victim’s family. Additionally, he called for the dismissal of the Kolkata Police Commissioner.

The BJP’s demands come amid ongoing scrutiny and heightened public interest in the case, which has sparked significant political and legal debate.
