Jaipur, 20th Sept. Leaders from both the ruling BJP and Congress in Rajasthan met with state minister Kirodi Lal Meena on Friday, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of 10-year-old deaf and mute girl Dimple Meena in Karauli earlier this year. Dissatisfied with the police’s handling of the case, members of the Meena community, alongside political leaders, urged Meena to take the matter to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
Kirodi Lal Meena expressed the need for a CBI investigation, stating, “Public representatives believe the police investigation has been half-hearted. We will approach the Chief Minister to ensure a thorough CBI probe, leaving no room for confusion.”
In May, Dimple Meena was found in a half-burnt condition and was rushed to Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital for treatment, where she died on May 20. The postmortem revealed poisoning as the cause of death, but her family initially suspected rape, which was not confirmed by the investigation. The police arrested her parents and maternal uncle in connection with the case.
Several political figures, including Deputy Leader of Opposition Ramkesh Meena and MPs Bhajanlal Jatav and Harischandra Meena, supported the demand for a CBI inquiry, stressing public dissatisfaction with the current investigation. A protest over the case is ongoing at the Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur.
Ramkesh Meena emphasized, “We are putting politics aside and demanding justice for the girl. A CBI inquiry is necessary to address the anger and discontent in society.”
