New Delhi, 4th July. The BJP has restructured its four state units ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and important assembly elections in the country by appointing new party heads.
The BJP has appointed G Kishan Reddy as the state president of Telangana, D Purandeshwari as the state president of Andhra Pradesh, former CM Babulal Marandi as the state president of Jharkhand, and Sunil Jakhar as the state president of Punjab.
The party has restructured its organization as it gets ready for crucial state elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Jakhar formerly served as the state chief of the Congress in Punjab.
The BJP also announced the selection of Eatala Rajender as chairman of the Telangana Election Management Committee. Telangana elections are scheduled for later this year.
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh are among the other states set to hold elections. The BJP is also going to focus on electoral campaigns in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Bihar, which account for a sizable proportion of Lok Sabha seats.
These states would be the focus of the party’s ministerial and organizational changes.
Earlier, PM Modi presided over a protracted meeting of his cabinet, fueling rumors about a cabinet reshuffle in the wake of the NCP split in Maharashtra.
The NCP split in Maharashtra is considered as part of a larger move to derail the Opposition’s efforts to unite against the BJP.
The changes were made after a series of meetings presided over by BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and General Secretary B L Santosh.
The statement came just one day after Prime Minister Modi presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers in Delhi.
The party has announced changes as it prepares for key Assembly elections later this year, as well as the widely anticipated Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Previously, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and BJP general secretary Santosh met several times to discuss organizational and political issues.
