Lucknow, 10th April. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its 10th list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, finalizing names for seven seats in Uttar Pradesh. Among the notable selections are Paras Nath Rai from Ghazipur and Neeraj Shekhar from Ballia.
Paras Nath Rai, chosen to contest from Ghazipur, hails from Mukhtar Ke Gadh in Gazipur. Meanwhile, Neeraj Shekhar, the incumbent Member of Parliament from Ballia, has been nominated once again by the BJP.
The BJP has also nominated Neeraj Tripathi from Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad), Praveen Patel from Phulpur, Beepi Saroj from Machhlishahr, Jayveer Singh Thakur from Mainpuri, and Vinod Sonkar from Kaushambi.
The selection of candidates for the Ghazipur and Ballia constituencies had been mired in controversy. However, with the release of this new list, all speculations have been put to rest.
In Ghazipur, the Samajwadi Party’s candidate, Afzal Ansari, is challenging the BJP. Afzal Ansari is the brother of notorious mafia don Mukhtar Ansari.
Jayveer Singh, currently serving as the Tourism Minister in the Yogi Adityanath-led government, has been fielded from Mainpuri. Neeraj Shekhar, the BJP candidate from Ballia, is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Vinod Sonkar, who has been nominated from Kaushambi, is the incumbent Member of Parliament from the same constituency. Praveen Patel, the nominee from Phulpur, is currently a legislator.
Paras Nath Rai, contesting from Ghazipur, is a former Member of Parliament and is trusted by former Union Minister and current Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha. Neeraj Tripathi, nominated from Prayagraj, is the son of former Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.
