Bengaluru, 3rd August.
The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] in Karnataka commenced their seven-day ‘Mysuru Chalo’ march from Bengaluru on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his alleged involvement in the illegal site allotment scam in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

BJP state president B Y Vijayendra and JD(S) Youth Wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy initiated the march by blowing a bugle amidst drum beats. The march will conclude with a grand public meeting in Mysuru on August 10.

Veteran BJP leader B S Yediyurappa accused the chief minister of corruption, stating, “It’s better for Siddaramaiah to resign on his own and step down gracefully.”

Opposition leader in the Karnataka Assembly, R Ashoka, criticized the Congress for questioning Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s decision to issue a notice to the chief minister. “You (Siddaramaiah) have started trembling after a notice was given. One can only imagine what will happen when the permission is given by him (Governor) to prosecute the chief minister,” Ashoka remarked.

Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, H D Kumaraswamy, highlighted the Congress’s alleged hypocrisy, saying, “The Congress talks about uplifting the downtrodden communities, but what they did in the MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scam exposed their anti-Dalit face.”

Banners, festoons, and BJP-JD(S) flags adorned the venue, symbolizing the united front of the opposition parties in their campaign against the chief minister.
