Patna, 5th July: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar is progressing rapidly, with authorities working round the clock to ensure no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), 1.04 crore enumeration forms — about 13.19% of the total 7.90 crore electors enrolled as of June 24, 2025 — have already been collected across the state. Meanwhile, nearly 94% of the forms have been distributed, covering over 7.38 crore citizens.
Over 77,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting door-to-door visits, helping citizens complete their forms and even capturing live photographs to ease the process. The ECI has also made digital tools available — partially filled forms can be downloaded and submitted via the ECI portal (https://voters.eci.gov.in) and ECINET App.
To bolster the process, an additional 20,603 BLOs have been deployed, along with approximately 4 lakh volunteers, including government staff, NCC cadets, and NSS members, to assist the elderly, persons with disabilities (PwDs), and other vulnerable groups.
The extensive revision effort is being supported by 239 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 963 Assistant EROs, 38 District Election Officers (DEOs), and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar, all operating at the grassroots level.
Moreover, 1,54,977 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by various political parties are actively aiding in the collection and verification of voter information.
The ECI aims to complete the SIR process smoothly and timely, ensuring a more inclusive, accurate, and updated electoral roll for the state.
