Big Changes Loom in BJP and Congress: Manoj Sinha May Become New BJP Chief, Gaurav Gogoi in Serious Trouble Over ISI Link

In a series of swift political developments, the corridors of power in Delhi are abuzz with speculation and impending shakeups. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reportedly held multiple confidential meetings with President Droupadi Murmu over the past few weeks. Sources suggest that these discussions revolve around the imminent reshuffle of governors across several states, with Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu expected to see new gubernatorial appointments soon.
Most notably, Manoj Sinha, the current Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, is tipped to resign from his post in the coming weeks. Insiders from both BJP and RSS circles indicate that Sinha is being considered for a much larger role — possibly as the next national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has reportedly given its nod to the leadership change. The final decision, however, is expected to be announced during the upcoming BJP Adhiveshan in Bengaluru scheduled for July.
If this reshuffle goes through, it could signify a new direction for the party as it gears up for the 2029 general elections. Current BJP national president JP Nadda is said to be looking for a graceful exit after steering the party through multiple state elections. Sinha, known for his calm demeanour and administrative acumen in Jammu & Kashmir, is seen as a consensus candidate with RSS support and a clean image.
Meanwhile, the Congress party is grappling with a political bombshell in Assam. Gaurav Gogoi, son of former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi and currently the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief, is under the scanner following explosive allegations that his wife is an ISI agent. In a dramatic twist, Gogoi has allegedly admitted to certain lapses during preliminary questioning by authorities. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed under the direction of the Union Home Ministry, is currently probing the matter.
Despite this controversy, Rahul Gandhi recently appointed Gogoi as the state Congress chief in Assam — a move that is now being heavily criticized within and outside the party. Legal experts suggest that if the SIT’s findings are incriminating, Gogoi may face immediate arrest, and his nomination for any future electoral post could be rejected. Political observers believe this scandal might be the end of Gogoi’s rise in state politics.
With both BJP and Congress facing crucial turning points — one in terms of strategic leadership, the other in damage control — Indian politics is entering a phase of high volatility. The coming weeks could reshape not just party hierarchies but also the broader political narrative in the country.
