Washington, 13th August. The Biden Administration has expressed its commitment to expanding its “critical and critically important” partnership with India, with the aim of fostering a more prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific region. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized this during a press briefing on Monday, highlighting the importance of the relationship between the United States and India.
“We look forward to continuing to expand our critical and critically important partnership and how it’s going to benefit the American people,” Jean-Pierre said. “We want to create a more prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific and the world. That is going to continue to be our focus as we move forward.”
President Joe Biden, according to Jean-Pierre, views the U.S.-India relationship as one of the most consequential in the world, working closely with India on key global priorities, including the Quad alliance and the U.S.-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology.
On the same day, India’s Ambassador-designate to the U.S., Vinay Mohan Kwatra, arrived in Washington, D.C. Kwatra, who has previously served as Minister of Commerce at the Indian Embassy in Washington, is expected to present his credentials to President Biden soon. His arrival comes at a crucial time, with the U.S. engaged in an intense presidential election campaign, evolving dynamics in Bangladesh, and ongoing conflicts involving the U.S.
In the coming months, India and the U.S. are expected to engage in several high-level diplomatic interactions, including visits from cabinet-level officials. The bilateral ties between the two nations have significantly strengthened following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic state visit to Washington in June last year and President Biden’s subsequent visit to India for the G20 summit in September.
