New Delhi, 4th March.
Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh, who was initially slated to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Asansol in West Bengal under the BJP banner but withdrew his candidature amidst controversy, remains uncertain about his political aspirations.

Following a meeting with BJP president JP Nadda, Singh refrained from confirming his participation in the electoral race, stating, “time would tell” regarding his future plans. Despite being pressed for insights into his decision-making process, Singh evaded questions, emphasizing that discussions with the party leadership had taken place, and the outcome would unfold in due course.

Singh’s sudden withdrawal from the Lok Sabha poll contest stirred speculation, especially considering the backlash surrounding his candidacy in Asansol, currently represented by Trinamool Congress’ Shatrughan Sinha. However, Singh expressed gratitude to the BJP leadership for the opportunity while citing unspecified reasons for his inability to contest from Asansol.

In a social media post, Singh extended appreciation for the BJP’s nomination but cited “some reason” for his withdrawal, refraining from elaborating on the circumstances behind his decision. The move comes amid criticism from the ruling TMC in West Bengal, which denounced Singh’s candidacy, citing alleged derogatory themes in his songs targeting women from the state.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Singh’s political trajectory, his interactions with BJP leadership indicate ongoing deliberations regarding his role in the upcoming elections. The actor-singer’s decision remains awaited as the political landscape in West Bengal continues to evolve.
