New Delhi- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla lauded former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and ex-Governor of Maharashtra and Goa, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, as an “extraordinary personality leading an ordinary life by example.” Speaking at the release of the book Parvat Shiromani Bhagat Singh Koshyari, authored by Madan Mohan Sati at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Birla highlighted Koshyari’s lifelong dedication to the nation and society.
Birla praised Koshyari’s unwavering commitment to national service, whether as a student, statesman, writer, or journalist. He recalled Koshyari’s tenure in Parliament and as Chairperson of a Parliamentary Committee, emphasizing his deep conviction for the development of hilly regions, preservation of forests, and conservation of natural resources.
Despite holding high offices, Koshyari remained humble and principled, Birla noted, stating that his life is a testament to service, integrity, and spirituality. He expressed confidence that the book would inspire future generations and serve as a guiding light for public servants, students, and academicians.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Mohan Singh Bisht, IGNCA Member Secretary Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, and Central Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi.
