Baroness Verma Urges UK PM to Condemn Violence Against Hindus, Minorities in Bangladesh

London, 15th August. Baroness Verma of Leicester has raised urgent concerns with the UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, regarding violent attacks on Hindu and minority communities in Bangladesh.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Baroness Verma condemned the recent assaults on religious places, businesses, and homes, which have resulted in significant violence with minimal police intervention.

Baroness Verma emphasized the need for immediate public condemnation of these attacks and called for the Chief Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, to ensure that the perpetrators face justice. She stressed that while the UK remains a strong ally of Bangladesh, the ongoing persecution must be addressed with urgency.

In her letter, Baroness Verma urged that this issue be raised at the highest levels, reflecting the concerns of Hindu and other minority communities in the UK.
