New Delhi, 13th Nov: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi”, Banas Dairy — a part of the Amul group and Asia’s largest cooperative dairy — has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) to strengthen India’s potato value chain.
The MoU, signed on November 10, 2025, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhavan, New Delhi, marks a major step towards the Ministry of Cooperation’s initiative of “cooperation among cooperatives.” The agreement was formalised in the presence of Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary (Cooperation), Government of India, and senior officials, with Shri Sangram Chaudhary, Managing Director of Banas Dairy, and Shri Chetan Joshi, Managing Director of BBSSL, as the signatories.
Dr. Bhutani termed the partnership a milestone for farmer empowerment and rural prosperity, underscoring its role in building robust value chains and boosting agricultural productivity.
The collaboration will develop a comprehensive seed-to-market model for potatoes, focusing on the production of certified, disease-free seed potatoes and the adoption of scientific cultivation practices. It also promotes contract farming, efficient market linkages, and technology integration to minimise input losses and enhance farm incomes.
Under the MoU, BBSSL will utilise Banas Dairy’s advanced tissue culture and aeroponic facilities, while Banas Dairy will extend technical expertise and marketing support. Shri Sangram Chaudhary highlighted Banas Dairy’s “Beyond Dairy” expansion into crop value chains, while Shri Chetan Joshi emphasised the goal of achieving self-reliance in seed potato production.
The partnership exemplifies how cooperative synergy can drive agricultural transformation and contribute to the government’s mission of rural prosperity through collective growth.
