Balochistan Declares Independence from Pakistan, Supports India’s Stand on PoJK”

Balochistan, 14th May: Baloch representative Mir Yar Baloch on Wednesday announced Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan, citing decades of systemic oppression, enforced disappearances, and grave human rights violations in the region.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Mir Yar Baloch declared:

Balochistan is not Pakistan. The people across Pakistan-occupied Balochistan are on the streets. This is their national verdict and the world must not stay silent.”

He further urged the international community, particularly India, to recognize Balochistan’s struggle, stating that Balochs should not be referred to as ‘Pakistan’s own people’.

“We are not Pakistani. We are Balochistani. Pakistan’s people are Punjabis who have never faced air bombings, disappearances or genocide,” he added.

Baloch Support for India’s Stand on PoJK

In a pointed message, Mir Yar extended full support to India’s demand that Pakistan vacate Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

“Balochistan fully supports India’s decision of asking Pakistan to vacate PoK. The world must act before another 1971-like surrender,” he said, referring to the historic surrender of 93,000 Pakistani troops during the Bangladesh liberation war.

Call for International Action

Mir Yar Baloch appealed to global powers for recognition of Balochistan’s independence and condemnation of Islamabad’s brutalities in the region.
He claimed that Balochistan’s forced annexation was done with the complicity of foreign powers and urged India’s media, intellectuals, and civil society to stand with the Baloch people.

“This is a battle for survival. Tum maroge hum niklenge. Hum nasal bachane nikle hain (You will kill us, we will rise. We are out to save our identity),” he declared.

Human Rights Crisis in Balochistan

Balochistan has long been plagued by violence. Numerous reports by international rights groups have documented enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture, and media blackouts.
While Islamabad blames separatist groups for unrest, activists argue that the Pakistani state has treated the province as a colony, denying Balochs political rights and economic benefits.

Despite growing international concern, concrete intervention remains absent, and the situation continues to deteriorate.

A Turning Point?

Mir Yar Baloch’s declaration marks one of the most direct and public assertions of independence from within the Baloch leadership in recent times. It is likely to increase tensions between Islamabad and Baloch nationalist factions and may also impact India-Pakistan relations, especially given the Baloch leader’s open support for India on the PoJK issue.

“We are not a part of Pakistan. We seek recognition, justice, and the right to determine our future,” Mir Yar concluded.
