Ayush Sector Key to Holistic Healthcare & Global Growth: PM Modi

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg to review the progress of the Ayush sector, emphasizing its role in holistic healthcare, traditional medicine, and economic growth.

During the meeting, PM Modi highlighted the rising global acceptance of Ayush and its potential to drive sustainable development. He stressed the need for policy support, research, and innovation to strengthen the sector and enhance India’s position as a leader in traditional medicine.

Key highlights from the meeting include:

Economic Growth: The Ayush manufacturing market grew from $2.85 billion in 2014 to $23 billion in 2023.
Research Expansion: Over 43,000 studies are now hosted on the Ayush Research Portal, with research publications in the last 10 years exceeding those of the previous 60 years.
Ayush Visa: Aimed at boosting medical tourism, attracting global patients seeking holistic treatments.
Global Recognition: Inclusion of traditional medicine in the WHO’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-11.

Yoga Promotion: The 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) in 2025 is expected to witness increased global participation.

PM Modi also underscored the importance of standardized protocols in Yoga, Naturopathy, and the Pharmacy sector, while directing officials to ensure transparency and integrity in Ayush governance.

The meeting was attended by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash NaddaMoS (IC) Prataprao JadhavPrincipal Secretary to PM Dr. P.K. Mishra, and senior government officials.
