Ayodhya, 8th August. The Ayodhya Police have commenced legal proceedings to conduct DNA tests related to the gang-rape of a 12-year-old girl, allegedly by a Samajwadi Party leader and his employee. The minor, who became pregnant, has been receiving treatment at Queen Mary Hospital, part of King George Medical College (KGMC) in Lucknow, since Monday for specialized care.
According to sources, the victim’s family has given consent for an abortion, which is being arranged in coordination with the medical team. A senior police officer from Ayodhya confirmed that DNA tests on the accused, the victim, and the fetus are underway as part of the legal process necessary for building a case against the two men involved. “The legal process required for the DNA test has begun. It is a standard procedure in such cases,” the officer stated.
Dr. Sudhir Singh, spokesperson for KGMC, reported that the girl’s condition remains stable and she is being closely monitored by a team of doctors. Sarvesh Awasthi, President of the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee, confirmed the receipt of the family’s consent for the abortion and stated that the next steps will be taken by the treating doctors.
The Ayodhya Police had previously arrested Moid Khan, a local bakery owner from Bhadarsa Nagar, and his employee Raju Khan on July 30. The duo is accused of raping the minor two months ago and recording the assault. The crime was exposed when the girl was found to be pregnant during a medical checkup.
In response to the case, the Ayodhya district administration demolished Khan’s bakery on August 3, citing its illegal construction over a pond. District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh had previously stated that the bakery was built unlawfully.
