New Delhi, India: Austin Fernando a close aide to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will be Sri Lanka’s new High Commissioner to India.
According to the embassy officials in Delhi, Austin Fernando will most likely replace Chitrangani Wagiswara, current High Commissioner to India in October.
Austin Fernando is a well known civil servant and said to be very close to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. In January 2015 just after his election, President Sirisena appointed Mr. Fernando as an Advisor to him and soon appointed him as the Governor of the Eastern Province.
