Rishikesh, 2nd Sept. In a poignant address at AIIMS Rishikesh, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar condemned the brutal violence against a health worker on August 9th, describing it as an extreme form of barbarity that shames humanity and undermines the essence of Bharat.
He slammed the use of terms like ‘symptomatic malaise’ to describe such incidents, stating they only deepen the collective pain and moral injury of society.
Dhankhar expressed frustration with the silence of NGOs and the failure of some to respond to their moral duty, urging them to revisit their positions and issue public apologies. He emphasized that societal responsibility is crucial in preventing violence against women and ensuring the safety of health professionals.
The Vice-President called for a collaborative effort from all stakeholders to address these issues, stressing that this is not a matter for political gain but a societal challenge that affects the very foundation of India’s values. He also highlighted the need for robust protection for doctors and health workers, affirming that their safety should be paramount.
Dhankhar’s remarks come in the wake of increasing incidents of violence against medical professionals, underscoring the need for comprehensive reforms and societal vigilance to uphold justice and safeguard human dignity.
