Assembly Elections in Tripura on Feb 16, in Nagaland & Meghalaya on Feb 27: EC

New Delhi, 18th Jan. Assembly elections will be held in Tripura on February 16, Nagaland and Meghalaya on February 27, and the counting of votes will take place on March 2, according to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

While the Nagaland Assembly’s term ends on March 12, the Meghalaya and Tripura assemblies’ terms end on March 15 and March 22, respectively.

Each of the three state assemblies has 60 members.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governs Tripura, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) governs Nagaland. Meghalaya’s government is led by the National People’s Party (NPP), the only political party from the northeast with national party recognition.
