The world’s largest democracy and the city of St. Petersburg have maintained close ties ever since the USSR and into modern Putin’s Russia. The relationship between India and Russia has been well-known for nearly seven decades. Russia has demonstrated that it is India’s go-to ally in all circumstances, from military imports to timely intervention during the war in 1971. Russia has once more demonstrated its friendship by thwarting Erdogan’s anti-Indiana plans.
ISIS bomber planning an attack on India is captured by Russia
A terrorist who was preparing to attack India has been captured by Russia. The terrorist is a member of ISIS, a radical Islamic terrorist organization. He had been enlisted to carry out a suicide bombing attack against “one of the representative of the ruling circles of India” in India.
According to Russia’s TASS, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia detained a member yesterday who was preparing to exact revenge for the Prophet Muhammad’s insult. The agency also made a video of the terrorist confessing that he pledged allegiance to IS Amir and received special training. “I was supposed to be given things there to commit a terrorist attack at the IS’s command for insulting the Prophet Muhammad,” the man claimed.
Turkey’s Role
The terrorist lives in Central Asia, according to his confession. He was recruited as an IS suicide bomber while he was in Turkey between April and June. According to the agency, they processed it in person meetings in Istanbul and remotely using Telegram.
The man was brought to Russia from Turkey by a Russian agency. He planned to “commit a high profile terrorist attack” in India as he traveled there from Russia. Given that Turkey is on the FATF’s Grey List, the terrorist would have been caught if he had traveled directly from Turkey.
It was previously claimed that Turkey maintains a close relationship with terrorist groups, specifically Daesh (ISIS), in order to further its own goals and agendas. Many reports have also confirmed Erdogan’s close ties to terrorist organizations.
Turkey has developed into a breeding ground for terrorists who receive funding, support, and training on the nation’s soil.
What is currently on India’s agenda?
The relationship between Russia and Turkey has improved since the fall of the Soviet Union, as many geopolitical strategists explain. It is a fact that Turkey receives the majority of its energy from Russia. India and Turkey were both purchasers of the S-400. The West imposed sanctions on Turkey as a result of this purchase.
Despite having business and military ties with Turkey, Moscow supported New Delhi by not only helping to catch the terrorist but also by sharing his contacts. India and Russia have been actively fighting terrorism together since 2021, when they signed 28 anti-terrorism pacts.
Additionally, during the Galwan clashes, Russia had previously favored India over China. Russia has consistently shown that it is friends with India.
India needs to pressure Turkey
Turkey at the moment is a good example. Erdogan’s repeated calls for the “Kashmir dispute” to be resolved within the UN and Turkey’s close ties to Pakistan had already sparked a flurry of tit-for-tat exchanges between India and Turkey.
The terrorist’s connection to Erdogan’s country has now given India the chance to launch a global campaign against Erdogan. India may have forgiven Erdogan for his transgressions of meddling in its internal affairs, but it won’t let Turkey off the hook this time. India, the largest democracy on earth, cannot permit any country to plot against its security and sovereignty.
