Arvind Kejriwal’s 2nd Directive from Detention is on Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics

New Delhi, 26th March.
Just two days after his first order, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal issued a second directive from inside the Enforcement Directorate’s lock-up. The new order, shared by Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, pertained to providing free medicines and pathological tests at government-operated Mohalla clinics.

Bharadwaj mentioned that the Chief Minister’s priority is to ensure that no Delhi resident faces any inconvenience due to his incarceration.

Regardless of his location, Kejriwal wants underprivileged individuals visiting government hospitals to receive free medicines. While middle-class individuals can afford to purchase medications, many underprivileged families in Delhi rely entirely on government hospitals and Mohalla clinics for their medical needs. Bharadwaj, who oversees the health portfolio, emphasized the importance of this initiative during a press conference.

He also highlighted the reliance of many people on Mohalla clinics for regular tests, noting that the Chief Minister had been made aware of issues with the free testing services at some clinics. As a result, Kejriwal instructed Bharadwaj to ensure that all hospitals and Mohalla clinics offer tests and medicines free of charge. Bharadwaj expressed a sense of duty to fulfill this directive promptly.

Bharadwaj further stated that despite Kejriwal’s imprisonment, his focus remains on the well-being of Delhi residents. The commitment of Kejriwal to ensuring uninterrupted services for the people of Delhi is unwavering, and his team is dedicated to working tirelessly to achieve this goal.

Prior to this, Delhi minister Atishi had shared Kejriwal’s initial directive from within the lock-up, which involved addressing water supply shortages and sewer problems in certain areas.

Responding to these actions, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari criticized the AAP, suggesting that the party had orchestrated a narrative. Tiwari claimed that there was no public outpouring of support for Kejriwal’s arrest, with some individuals even celebrating the news. Tiwari dismissed the idea that Kejriwal could effectively govern from jail, likening the situation to criminal activities being orchestrated from behind bars.

Kejriwal is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate for a week following his arrest in connection to a money laundering case related to Delhis former liquor policy. The AAP has refuted all allegations and accused the BJP-led Centre of using investigative agencies for political purposes. The party has affirmed that Kejriwal will continue to fulfill his duties as Chief Minister while in custody.
