Arunachal Pradesh’s Matton Pansa Wins Gold at All India Police Duty Meet Shooting Competition 2025

Itanagar: Rifleman Matton Pansa from the 12 Assam Rifles made Arunachal Pradesh state proud by bagging a gold medal at the 25th All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM) Shooting Competition 2025. The competition, which was conducted from March 17 to March 22, was organized at the Tamil Nadu Commando School Training Centre in Othivakkam, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The AIPDM, which is an eagerly awaited competition for police officers, saw fierce rivalry among the different police forces from all over the nation. Rifleman Pansa’s stellar performance in the shooting event not only secured for him the prized gold medal but also brought him into the limelight as one of the country’s best marksmen.

Following the news, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu declared himself proud and sent warmest congratulations to Rifleman Matton Pansa, stating, “Golden glory for Arunachal! Congratulations to Rifleman Matton Pansa for winning Gold at the 25th All India Police Shooting Competition.” The Chief Minister went on to point out that Pansa’s success was not just an individual triumph but also a time of unimaginable pride for the whole state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, also congratulated Pansa on social media, saying, “Proud of the work done by Rifleman Matton Pansa, who is from Konnu Village in Longding District. I wish him all the very best for his future endeavors!” Mein also commended Pansa for his commitment and dedication to excellence, which earned him a top-notch performance at the national level. The deputy CM echoed the sentiment of pride felt by the Arunachal Pradesh people.

Rifleman Matton Pansa, a member of the 12 Assam Rifles since 2005, is not new to the arena of shooting competitions. His achievement in the AIPDM is viewed as a landmark in his career and a major achievement for his community in Longding District. Coming from Konnu Village, Pansa has been a source of inspiration for budding shooters, particularly from the Wancho community, who have a rich association with the history and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.

Part of the competition, the Assam Rifles won in the Overall Championship category and got the prized trophy, with the Border Security Force (BSF) claiming the Overall Runners-Up Trophy. This was a further reinforcement of the dominance of the Assam Rifles in police shooting competitions, displaying their unmatched abilities and commitment.

The Tamil Nadu Police, hosting the AIPDM for the third time, gave a world-class stage to police officers from other states and forces to demonstrate their marksmanship. The event, which had some of the country’s finest marksmen, is viewed as a way for police forces to sharpen their skills and get ready for the challenges ahead in upholding law and order.
