Itanagar, 20th August. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday took decisive steps to strengthen the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, which mandates that non-Arunachalee individuals obtain a permit to enter the state. The announcement came during a joint meeting with top government officials and leaders of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) in Itanagar.

Chief Minister Khandu stressed the importance of reinforcing the ILP system to curb illegal entry and prevent the prolonged stay of non-local migrants. “Our main objective is to protect our indigenous tribes from outside influx, and we are committed to this goal,” he stated.

The Chief Minister noted that the state government is actively working to strengthen the ILP system and emphasized the need for input from the AAPSU, a key student organization in the state. During the meeting, AAPSU President Dozi Tana Tara presented a detailed survey and proposed measures to improve the current ILP framework.

The enhanced ILP system aims to bolster security and maintain the cultural integrity of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous populations.
