Amritsar Police Crack Down on Trans-Border Narco-Terrorism Racket, 8 Arrested

Amritsar, 21st June. The Amritsar Police Commissionerate has dismantled a trans-border illegal arms and narco-terrorism hawala racket following a 10-day operation. Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav announced the success on Thursday, detailing the arrests of eight individuals allegedly involved in the illicit network.

The operation, spearheaded by local authorities, led to the apprehension of key figures including the alleged kingpin Ranjit Singh, alias Kaka, along with Rajinder, Abhishek, Vishal, Lovepreet, Gurbhej, Gurjant, and Jaspal, all residents of Amritsar.

During the raids, law enforcement seized a substantial amount of contraband and illicit assets. Recoveries included 4.10 kg of heroin, two pistols (including a Pakistan-made Zigana pistol and a .32 bore pistol), 45 cartridges, and ₹2.07 lakh in drug money. Additionally, seven vehicles suspected to have been purchased with drug proceeds were impounded.

Director General Gaurav Yadav emphasized that the operation remains ongoing with efforts to apprehend other individuals linked to cross-border activities and hawala transactions. The breakthrough came after initial investigations and the arrest of local drug peddler Rajinder, who was found in possession of 500 grams of heroin, ₹40,000 in drug money, a vehicle, and a firearm. Rajinder was also wanted by Amritsar Rural Police in connection with an attempted murder case.
