Amitabh Bachchan: Bollywood’s Megastar Turned Real Estate Mogul

 Amitabh Bachchan, often hailed as the “Shahenshah” of Bollywood, is making waves in the real estate world as well. The legendary actor recently sold a luxurious apartment in Mumbai’s Oshiwara for an impressive ₹83 crore, earning a profit of ₹52 crore. Bachchan had purchased the property in April 2021 for ₹31 crore.

This is not the first time Big B has been involved in high-stakes real estate transactions. Over the years, he has bought and sold numerous properties, amassing a portfolio worth billions across India and abroad. Alongside his son, Abhishek Bachchan, he has made significant investments in real estate, reaping handsome returns through sales and rentals.

Currently residing in his iconic Juhu bungalow, Jalsa, which spans 10,125 square feet and is valued at around ₹120 crore, Amitabh Bachchan has lived there for over 30 years. Apart from Jalsa, he owns three other bungalows in Mumbai.

Recent Real Estate Ventures

  • In 2024, Amitabh and Abhishek invested ₹100 crore in real estate, according to Business Standard.
  • Between 2020 and 2024, Big B reportedly invested ₹200 crore in various properties, as per Hindustan Times.
  • Last year, the Bachchan family purchased a ₹24.95 crore property in Mulund West, Mumbai, consisting of 10 apartments. Abhishek acquired six apartments worth ₹14.77 crore, while Amitabh purchased the remaining.
  • In 2024, Amitabh also acquired a three-floor office property in Andheri West for ₹60 crore.
  • He bought a 10,000-square-foot plot of land in Ayodhya in 2024 for ₹14.5 crore, reportedly to build a house.

Expanding Global Footprint

The actor’s investments extend beyond Indian borders. According to The Economic Times:

  • Bachchan owns a lavish bungalow in Dubai.
  • In Paris, he has an apartment gifted to him by his wife, Jaya Bachchan.

In addition to Ayodhya, the Bachchans have invested in properties across Delhi, Gurugram, Bhopal, and Prayagraj, further solidifying their status as real estate tycoons
