Ranchi, 3rd Nov. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Sunday, unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sankalp Patra (manifesto) for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, emphasizing the party’s commitment to security and development for the state’s future. Shah underscored the BJP’s distinct approach to governance and claimed this election offers Jharkhand a choice between corruption and progress.
Addressing the crowd in Ranchi, Shah stated, “This election in Jharkhand is not just to change the government; it’s about securing Jharkhand’s future. Voters must decide whether they prefer a government entangled in corruption or a BJP-led administration committed to development under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.” He added that BJP’s manifesto reflects a promise of safeguarding Jharkhand’s identity, land, and women from external threats and infiltration.
Shah sharply criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led administration under Chief Minister Hemant Soren, asserting that tribal communities, especially in regions like Santhal Pargana, face diminishing safety. He alleged that “infiltrators” are occupying tribal lands and threatening the local culture by targeting women. Shah declared, “If this is not stopped, the very fabric of Jharkhand — its culture, land, and safety for women — will be at risk.”
The manifesto release event saw attendance from senior BJP leaders including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Sanjay Seth, and BJP Jharkhand President Babulal Marandi.
Shah further highlighted the BJP’s commitment to marginalized groups, noting that the Sankalp Patra is a beacon of hope for Jharkhand’s backward classes, poor, tribals, and Dalits. He emphasized, “BJP stands apart from other parties because it fulfills its promises. Our track record reflects our dedication to the development and welfare of all communities.”
The BJP has launched its campaign with the slogan “Roti, Beti, Maati” (Bread, Daughters, Land) aimed at ensuring employment, security for women, and protection of Jharkhand’s lands.
Jharkhand Assembly elections are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting on November 23. In the last assembly elections, the JMM secured 30 seats, BJP 25, and Congress 16 in the 81-member assembly.
