Mumbai, 13th June.
Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has officially submitted her nomination papers as a candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. This move comes shortly after Sunetra Pawar’s unsuccessful bid in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency during the recently concluded general elections, where her sister-in-law Supriya Sule secured victory for the fourth consecutive term.

State minister and senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal confirmed the decision, stating, “The NCP has decided to field Sunetra Pawar for Rajya Sabha elections. Even I was keen on contesting the elections, but during a meeting on Wednesday evening, party leaders finalized her name.” Bhujbal expressed acceptance of the party’s decision despite personal aspirations, emphasizing his commitment as a party worker and leader.

The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has notified vacancies for ten seats in the Upper House, including two each for Assam, Bihar, and Maharashtra, and one each for Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tripura.
