New Delhi, 1st Sept. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit took over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Central Air Command on September 1, 2024. A seasoned fighter pilot, Air Marshal Dixit was commissioned into the Indian Air Force (IAF) on December 6, 1986. With over 37 years of distinguished service, he brings extensive experience and leadership to his new role.
An Experimental Test Pilot and Qualified Flying Instructor, Air Marshal Dixit has logged more than 3,300 hours of flying on various aircraft in the IAF’s inventory. His career has seen active participation in key operations, including Operation Safed Sagar and Operation Rakshak.
A graduate of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College in Bangladesh, and the National Defence College, Air Marshal Dixit has held several critical field and staff appointments. Notably, he commanded a frontline fighter base in the Western Sector and a premier fighter training base in the Southern Sector. His staff roles included Principal Director of Air Staff Requirements at Air Headquarters, Air Defence Commander of Southern Air Command, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff.
During his tenure as Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Dixit spearheaded several groundbreaking projects, advancing the adoption of future technologies and pushing the IAF’s modernization agenda with a focus on ‘Atmanirbharta’ (Self-Reliance). His leadership will continue to prioritize the operational readiness of Central Air Command to ensure the IAF meets its objectives successfully.
In recognition of his exemplary service, Air Marshal Dixit has been honored with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India.
