Patna, 17th August. AIIMS-Patna has enhanced security after the recent rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The official announcement was made on Saturday by AIIMS-Patna Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gopal Krushna Pal.

In light of the tragic incident, AIIMS-Patna has decided to deploy additional female security guards and install 150 more CCTV cameras on the campus. Dr. Pal assured that the current security measures are being upgraded to further ensure the safety of female doctors, students, and patients.

“Our campus already has a robust security system with ample personnel, including women security guards, and numerous CCTV cameras strategically placed,” Dr. Pal said. “However, following the Kolkata incident, we are taking extra measures to make our security system more effective and fool-proof.”

A comprehensive security plan is under consideration, focusing on deploying additional female guards and expanding surveillance coverage. Meetings with wardens, department heads, superintendents, and security supervisors have been held to address the situation.

To enhance safety, hostel rules have been tightened. Students must now obtain written permission from the warden for any overnight stay away from their rooms. Temporary departures from the campus require detailed written applications, including the departure and return times, destination, and parental approval. Visitors are restricted to designated areas and must have prior permission from the hostel warden.

The tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College has sparked nationwide outrage, highlighting the urgent need for stricter security measures at medical institutions across the country.
