After an earthquake strikes the Afghan-Tajikistan border, tremors are felt in Kashmir and the Delhi-NCR area; the Prime Minister dials the J&K LG.

An earthquake with its epicentre near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border rattled Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, and other locations early Saturday.

The epicentre of the earthquake, which had a value of 5.7 on the Richter scale, was near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, according to the National Centre of Seismology. The earthquake occurred around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to reports.

Officials have yet to report any fatalities or property damage. Residents of J&K, however, have reported damage to the shrine’s spire at Charar-e-Sharif. On this subject, an official statement is awaited.

In other events, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Gujarat’s Kutch district on Friday morning, although officials claimed there were no reports of casualties or property damage. Its epicentre was near the town of Rapar.

‘A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Kutch at 10.16 a.m. on Friday, with the epicentre 16 kilometres south-southeast (SSW) near Rapar. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 19.1 kilometres, according to the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR).According to the state disaster management organisation, the Kutch district is located in a “very high risk seismic zone.” In 2001, a catastrophic earthquake struck the region.
