Ahmedabad, 6th May: Indian conglomerate Adani Group’s power arm, Adani Power, has an outstanding payment of $900 million (approximately ₹7500 crore) from Bangladesh, a senior company official disclosed on Monday.

Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL), a subsidiary of Adani Power, supplies electricity to the neighboring country. During a discussion on the company’s quarterly results, Adani Power’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Dilip Jha stated, “So far, we have billed a total of approximately $2 billion. Out of this, we have already received $1.2 billion. We have also sent a late payment surcharge (LPS) bill of $136 million.”

The 1600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant of APJL, located in Godda, Jharkhand, supplies electricity to Bangladesh. Dilip Jha mentioned that the total outstanding amount from Bangladesh, including the LPS, currently stands at around $900 million.

Regarding the company’s capital expenditure plans, Dilip Jha informed that Adani Power has outlined a plan of ₹13,307 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26, which is higher than the ₹8000 crore spent in the fiscal year 2024-25.

Adani Power CEO S. B. Khyalia clarified that the company is consistently supplying the full contracted electricity to Bangladesh and there has never been any issue that led to a suspension of supply. He further added, “In the last quarter, the outstanding amount has reduced by about ₹500 crore. Therefore, the payments the company is now receiving are more than the monthly billing.” He made these remarks in response to a query about whether Adani Power had halted electricity supply to Bangladesh due to pending payments.
