Actor Siddique Resigns as AMMA General Secretary Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

Kochi, 25th August. Noted actor Siddique resigned from his position as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on Sunday, following sexual assault allegations made by a woman actor on August 24.

In a statement to a television channel, Siddique confirmed that he had sent his resignation letter to AMMA President Mohanlal.

“Yes. I have tendered my official resignation to the president of the organisation, Mohanlal. Since there were allegations against me, I have decided not to continue in the post and resigned,” Siddique said.

The resignation follows allegations by a female actor who claimed Siddique sexually abused her after inviting her for a movie discussion.

The accusations come amid increased scrutiny in the Malayalam film industry following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposed numerous cases of casting couch and sexual abuse within the industry. The report highlighted instances of harassment and exploitation, leading to calls for accountability and action against those involved.
