Chandigarh, 20th Sept. National convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, claimed on Friday that the upcoming government in Haryana cannot be formed without his party’s support. He emphasized that the state is seeking “badlaav” (change) and that the people are ready to oust the ruling BJP in the October 5 assembly polls.
Addressing a roadshow in Jagadhri, Yamunanagar district, Kejriwal, accompanied by AAP Haryana chief Sushil Gupta, campaigned for AAP’s candidate, Adarsh Pal. He predicted that Jagadhri would be the first seat AAP wins, declaring that “entire Haryana wants change.”
Kejriwal slammed the BJP government, accusing them of fostering corruption, unemployment, inflation, and a growing drug menace. He further alleged that under BJP rule, people are increasingly disillusioned, with many refusing to allow BJP leaders to enter their villages.
Targeting the BJP’s handling of his imprisonment in the Delhi excise policy case, Kejriwal said, “They jailed me for five months in a false case, trying to break my spirit. But I come from Haryana, and you can’t break a Haryanawala.”
AAP is contesting the Haryana polls independently after failed negotiations with Congress for a seat-sharing agreement. Kejriwal also urged voters to choose Adarsh Pal over sitting BJP MLA Kanwar Pal, alleging that the BJP-led government has neglected education and allowed “gundagardi” (hooliganism) in private schools.
The Haryana Assembly elections will be held on October 5, with results expected on October 8.
