AAP Targets Delhi LG Over Drowning Incident in Ghazipur, Demands Action

New Delhi, 1st August. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday sharply criticized Lt Governor and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Chairperson V.K. Saxena after the drowning of a woman and her toddler in an under-construction DDA drain in Ghazipur.

The incident, which occurred around 8 PM amid heavy rainfall, resulted in the deaths of Tanuja and her three-year-old son Priyansh. They had reportedly slipped and fallen into the waterlogged drain while visiting a weekly market near Khoda Colony.

Addressing a press conference, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh condemned the incident as “unfortunate” and demanded accountability.

“The DDA was responsible for the drain’s redevelopment, and the Lt Governor, as its chairman, oversees the officials involved. We see demands for the arrest of the mayor for various issues and the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. We now demand action against the Lt Governor,” Singh stated.

Singh accused the BJP of “silence” on the matter, labeling the incident as “murder.” AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar, who visited the site, described the situation as “murder” rather than an accident.

He said that the DDA officials should be held accountable for failing to secure the construction site with barriers or warning signs.
