AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal Summoned in Alleged Illegal Immigrant Syndicate Case

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 12th Jan. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mohinder Goyal has been summoned by Delhi Police for questioning over alleged links to a syndicate involved in facilitating illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Goyal, who represents the Rithala constituency, received two notices, one on Saturday and another on Sunday, asking him to appear before the investigating team.

The case stems from a December 2024 operation in which police dismantled an illegal immigration racket, arresting 11 individuals, including Bangladeshi nationals. The group allegedly forged documents, created fake websites, and produced fraudulent Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other identification documents.

During the investigation, police uncovered documents purportedly bearing Goyal’s signature and seal. Additional materials allegedly linking the MLA to the syndicate were recovered following interrogations of the arrested intermediaries and immigrants.

AAP responded strongly to the summons, accusing the BJP of using government agencies to target opposition leaders. In a statement, the party said, “The BJP only engages in negative politics — filing false cases and misusing the state machinery to suppress opposition leaders.” AAP claimed such tactics undermine democratic norms and are often deployed as elections near.

Further developments in the investigation are awaited as police continue their probe.
