New Delhi, 22nd Dec. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday unveiled two major welfare schemes — Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana — aimed at empowering women and senior citizens in the national capital. The registration for both schemes will begin on December 23, with AAP workers conducting a door-to-door drive to ensure maximum participation.

At a press conference alongside Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Kejriwal emphasized the importance of these initiatives, designed to support the most vulnerable sections of society.

Mahila Samman Yojana will provide ₹2,100 monthly to every woman in Delhi. Kejriwal said, “This amount will help women manage household expenses, support their education, and fulfill personal needs.” He added that AAP teams will visit homes for the registration process to ensure convenience for women, avoiding the need for them to stand in long queues.

Sanjeevani Yojana, aimed at senior citizens aged 60 and above, will offer free healthcare coverage, including medical treatments in both government and private hospitals. Kejriwal assured, “The AAP government will bear all treatment costs for senior citizens, relieving them from the financial burden of healthcare in their later years.”

Both schemes will open registration across Delhi, with AAP workers visiting households for enrollment. Kejriwal emphasized that only Delhi voters are eligible and urged people to verify the status of their voter IDs. He also accused the opposition of attempting to cancel voter IDs to block access to welfare benefits, advising residents to report any such issues.

Kejriwal, Atishi, and Manish Sisodia will also personally visit areas to kickstart the registration drive, marking a significant step towards social empowerment in the city.
