New Delhi, 14th May. AAP responds to Following Swati Maliwal assault, Delhi Police receives two PCR calls.
According to those familiar with the situation, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Monday night prompted two calls to the Delhi Police alleging that AAP member for the Rajya Sabha, Swati Maliwal, had been beaten there.
The sources claimed that although Maliwal was at the residence to meet Kejriwal, his personal aide Bibhav Kumar stopped her from doing so. Maliwal had been abroad for weeks and had been mostly absent throughout the chief minister’s incarceration in the excise police case. When HT attempted to contact Maliwal, the former head of the Delhi Commission for Women, for remarks, she kept hanging up the phone.
According to a Delhi Police operations cell officer, there were two calls about the purported occurrence. “The caller did not give her identity when she made the first call at approximately 9.10 a.m. to 100 [the emergency response number]. However, in the second contact, which came in at roughly 9.34 a.m., the caller identified herself as Swati Maliwal and informed the police that Bibhav Kumar, the Chief Minister’s adviser in Delhi, was abusing her,” the officer added, requesting to remain anonymous.
BJP asks Kejriwal: How would you safeguard women in Delhi?
BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj criticized Kejriwal in the wake of Maliwal’s claims. While denouncing the reported event, Swaraj referred to it as “shameful” and questioned Kejriwal on how he would safeguard Delhi’s women if the MP for his own party wasn’t safe in his company.
“The BJP vehemently condemns if it is accurate that, following Arvind Kejriwal’s incitement, his OSD assaulted and misbehaved with party MP Swati Maliwal in front of the chief minister of Delhi. It is disgusting, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal must respond by explaining how he would safeguard Delhi’s women if their party MP is not safe in his presence.” stated Bansuri Swaraj.
