In response to hashtags like #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha becoming popular on Twitter, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who is eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming film Lal Singh Chaddha, a parody of the Tom Hanks-starring Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, has responded. The Bollywood actor pleaded with people not to boycott his movie, which he has also co-produced, and insisted that, in contrast to what some people may believe, he loves India.

Most people are boycotting Laal Singh Chaddha due to Aamir’s anti-Hindu stance in his film PK and subsequent anti-India statements, despite the fact that India made his film the highest-grossing movie ever. Some people want to boycott it because they believe Aamir has ruined another Hollywood classic.

The Bollywood actor told PTI, “That Boycott Bollywood… Avoid Aamir Khan. Do not support Laal Singh Chaddha. I’m also saddened by the fact that many people who are saying this in their hearts think I don’t like India… They know in their hearts that… And that is completely untrue.

The actor continued, “I truly love the nation… I am in that way. It is unfortunate if some individuals have that opinion. Aamir Khan continued, “I want to assure everyone that it’s not the case, so please don’t boycott my films, please watch my films,” as he pleaded with his audience and fans to give his movie a fair chance.

The actor’s response was timely given that some Twitter users had recently made Aamir’s contentious 2015 statement about “India’s growing intolerance” viral. Back in 2015, Aamir Khan had stated that he and his wife Kiran Rao (now ex-wife) were terrified of the country’s growing intolerance and had given moving to another country serious consideration.

If you recall, Aamir Khan said, “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says Should we move out of India?” during a speech he gave at an awards ceremony in 2015. Kiran made a terrible and significant statement there. She worries about her child (son Azad). She worries about the environment we will be in. Every day when she opens the newspaper, she feels afraid.

The megastar of Bollywood continued, “That does indicate that, in addition to alarm, there is this sense of growing unease and despondency. You feel depressed and understand why this is happening. That feeling is real to me.

Netizens urged a boycott of Aamir Khan’s upcoming film in response to his aforementioned 2015 statement. The hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha soon became popular on Twitter.

An old video of Kareena Kapoor is currently trending on social media as part of the #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha movement. Kareena is seen in the video discussing nepotism in an interview. Don’t watch the movies, nobody has forced you, she scolds in the video. She continued, “You are coming to watch the movie right, then don’t go,” “aap aa rahe hon na movie dekhne, toh mat aao.”

In Aamir Khan’s forthcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh will be seen in the titular roles.

It should be noted that #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha has trended before. The controversy first surfaced in May 2022 after Khan’s movie’s trailer was released. Khan’s controversial statement from 2015 was also brought up at the time, and online users dubbed him anti-Hindu and anti-India.

On August 11, Laal Singh Chaddha, an Indian remake of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump, will be released. Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh, and Kareena Kapoor Khan are also featured.
