“A Developed Economy Should Be a Developed Ecology Too,” says Bhupender Yadav

Mumbai, 1st Sept. Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, emphasized the need for ecological consciousness in tandem with economic growth during the ‘Ideas4LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment’ event held at IIT Bombay.

Organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change in collaboration with the State Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra, the event aimed to inspire innovative environmental solutions among students, faculty, and researchers.

In his address, Minister Yadav declared, “A developed economy should be a developed ecology too,” urging citizens to adopt a mindset of environmental responsibility.

Highlighting the interconnectedness of life and the environment, he called for a shift from a human-centric approach to a more ecologically conscious development model.

The event also saw the extension of the idea submission deadline for the ‘Ideas4LiFE’ ideathon from September 15 to October 15, 2024. The ideathon, which focuses on themes such as water conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable food systems, encourages participants to submit innovative solutions through the dedicated portal ‘Ideas4Life.nic.in.’

In addition to the ideathon, the event featured a tree plantation drive as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, reinforcing the commitment to preserving nature.

The event garnered participation from around 1,200 students, research scholars, and faculty from various educational institutions in Mumbai.
