SAJA Appoints New Board Members for 2023-24

New York, 22nd Dec. The South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) has announced the appointment of two new board members as well as the re-election of four previous board members for new two-year terms (2023-24).

Hanaa’ Tameez and Priyanka Vora have joined the board.

“Our new board members add to the spirit of community, excellence, expertise and energy to the organization. We are very fortunate to have them join us as we continue to build and serve the SAJA community,” said Sabrina Malhi, current President of SAJA.

Jennifer Chowdhury, Pia Sarkar, Karen Mahabir, and Mihir Zaveri are the four returning board members.

New board member Priyanka Vora is the Director of Audience at Axios in New York, and Hanaa’ Tameez is a Staff Writer at Harvard University’s Nieman Journalism Lab, where she covers innovation in the news media industry.

SAJA is a resource and networking forum for journalists. Its mission includes serving as a resource for accurate reporting on South Asia and the diaspora.

The following are the board members for 2023: (1) Farnoush Amiri, (2) Jennifer Chowdhury, (3) John Laxmi, (4) Karen Mahabir, (5) Sabrina Malhi, (6) Pia Sarkar, (7) Mythili Sampathkumar, (8) Hanaa’ Tameez, (9) Priyanka Vora (10) Deena Zaidi and (11) Mihir Zaveri.
