Nation Remains Grateful to “Valiant Martyrs” for Their Supreme Sacrifice: President Droupadi Murmu on 2001 Parliament Attack

New Delhi, 13th Dec. President Droupadi Murmu said on Tuesday that the nation will always be grateful to the “brave martyrs” who laid down their lives in the 2001 Parliament attack.

On December 13, 2001, militants from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) attacked the Parliament building and started shooting, leaving nine people dead.

“The nation pays homage to the valiant martyrs who laid down their lives while defending the Parliament against terrorist attack on this day in 2001. We will always remain grateful to the bravehearts for their courage and supreme sacrifice,” President Murmu tweeted.

Five Delhi police officers, a woman Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper, two Parliament watch and ward staff, and a gardener were among those killed. A journalist who was injured later died. All five terrorists were killed by gunfire.
