Uttarakhand Governor Gurmit Singh Inaugurates 6th edition of VoW in Dehradun

Dehradun, 14th Nov. The sixth edition of Valley of Words began on November 12 with music from the mountains resonating in the Dehradun valley.

The colors of VoW 2022 set the perfect tone for the authors, panelists, winners, artists, guests, judges, jurors, students, and teachers who gathered to celebrate the written word.

As Uttarakhand’s governor, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Gurmit Singh, delivered his inaugural speech, Dhol Damaun’s music set the tone. Following that, he launched the VoW 2022’s ‘First Day Cover,’ as well as editions of the magazines ‘The Book Review’ and ‘Tadbhav,’ which contain English and Hindi reviews of all 40 shortlisted books across eight categories for 2022.

Beena Bhatt, director of the Uttarakhand Cultural Department, Amitabh Kharkwal, Chief Postmaster General of Uttarakhand, and Bhaskar Pant, director of NABARD, were also present on stage.

On the first day of the festival, many books were also released. Dipankar Aaron and N Ravi Shankar discussed the late Samaresh Bose’s book In Search of the Pitcher of Nectar. Satish Ekant and Rudrangshu Mukherjee talk about the award-winning Valley of Words book Tagore and Gandhi Walking Alone, Walking Together.

The panelists included Raja Shekhar Vundru, Pradeep Singh, Kulbhushan Kain, Ira Pandey, Badri Narayan, and Sanjeev Chopra.
