Phagwara, 6th September. Balvir Rani Sodhi, president of the Punjab Mahila Congress Committee, resigned from her position citing family commitments.
On Monday, she submitted her resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Kindly relieve me from the post as I am unable to continue due to unavoidable compulsions of my family circumstances, Sodhi wrote in the letter.
The Congress leader, on the other hand, has stated that she will remain devoted to the party.
Copies of the letter were also sent to party leader Rahul Gandhi and working president of the All India Mahila Congress Committee Neeta D’Souza.
Her resignation comes ahead of Congress party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ across the country on September 7.
Sodhi denied having any disagreements with Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.
I have no disagreements with Raja Warring and resigned only due to family obligations, said the state unit’s women’s wing chief.
She also brushed off a question about the possibility of her leaving the party.
She emphasized, “I am a loyal soldier of the party and will perform any duty assigned to me by the party leadership.”
