Kohima, 6th August. Nagaland government on Saturday launched eSanjeevani, a national teleconsultation service run by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (HFW).
Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom said at a programme here that the initiative will replace the state government’s Naga telehealth, a telemedicine platform and assisted teleconsultation system, in order to bridge the urban-rural divide in health care services.
The minister was speaking after launching the health scheme during a programme that also recognised three health care units in the state for meeting National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) in health care service.
The minister expressed confidence that eSanjeevani will allow patients in rural areas to access quality healthcare.
Phom also asked officials to encourage health care workers and the general public to use the platform for the benefit and welfare of everyone.
Asangla Imti, Nagaland government Secretary for HFW said that eSanjeevani is a teleconsultation service that provides health care services to patients sitting in their homes or by visiting the nearest health care centre.
She described it as a secure and structured tele-based clinical consultation between a doctor and a patient.
It is a citizen-centric online-based outpatient consultation that, if properly implemented, can be very useful for patients in remote areas, according to Imti.
