Kolkata,6th July. The BJP has filed two complaints against TMC’s Mahua Moitra for “insulting” goddess Kali. The first complaint was filed by BJP workers in the morning, and the second by Bengal BJP leader Rajarshi Lahiri at Rabindra Sarobar police station.
Rajarshi Lahiri stated in his complaint that “Moitra made the statement on purpose, knowing nothing about our religion or religious beliefs. The statement was made solely to denigrate the goddess Kali”.
He added, “At present, communal violence (pogrom would be a better word to describe the situation) is taking place throughout the state and properties are being destroyed and, strangely, police are not acting properly. I am not sure in how many cases prosecution under the National Highways Act, PDPP Act, The West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Act, 1972 was applied.”
“At this juncture, the statement of Mohua Moitra can add more fuel to the massacre which is already going on and the situation will go beyond hands. In the name of freedom of speech and expression, one does not have any right to hurt Hindu sentiment,” the BJP leader said in his complaint.
Concluding his written complaint, BJP leader Lahiri said that if no action is taken, “the Hindus will hit the road in protest of the remark democratically.”
Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar has demanded Mahua Moitra’s arrest and temporary suspension from the party.
“TMC can’t detach itself from the comments of Mahua Moitra. If TMC actually doesn’t endorse it, they should take action. They should either expel her or suspend her from the party for a few days,” the WB BJP chief said.
