Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath said on Thursday that the party will finalize its candidates for the state’s upcoming local body elections in a few days and will choose those who work to strengthen the organization.
When asked about party infighting over ticket distribution, Nath told reporters that everyone is doing a good job, but only one will be able to get the ticket.
“Such a situation can sometimes lead to tension,” he said, adding that the party will choose those who will help strengthen the organization.
I am meeting with all those in charge of the issue and will finalize the candidates for the state’s upcoming local body elections in a day or two, Nath said.
Unlike panchayat elections, these will be held on a party-by-party basis, he said.
The first-phase polls will be counted on July 17, while the second phase will be counted on July 18, according to the official.
The notification for the nomination process will be issued on June 11; the deadline for filing papers is June 18; the scrutiny will take place on June 20, and the deadline for withdrawing candidature is June 22, according to the official.
