Hyderabad, 12th Jan. A Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Jambagh, Old City, Hyderabad, is said to have had 19 vaccines stolen. The PHC is on Kalikhabar Road, which is within the Mirchowk police station’s jurisdiction. On January 10, the suspects allegedly broke into PHC Jambagh and stole 24 vials of Covishield and 17 vials of Covaxin. 340 doses of Covishield and 270 doses of Covaxin could be given from the stolen vaccine.

The burglars allegedly broke open the PHC’s main door and stole BCG, DPT, and OPV vaccines, as well as computers and the tyres of an autorickshaw parked on the premises, according to the police. In the nearby lanes on the street, healthcare workers used to conduct door-to-door vaccination camps.

Telangana began administering Covid vaccine booster doses to senior citizens with comorbidities, healthcare workers, and frontline workers on January 10. All government healthcare facilities, including CHCs, Area Hospitals, District Hospitals, UPHCs, PHCs, and tertiary hospitals, will have vaccines available.

Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao urged healthcare workers, GHMC frontline workers, and police officers to get the booster doses. He also stated that the state government has already urged the federal government to allow all senior citizens, not just those with comorbidities, to receive the booster dose.
