BJP MLA Raja Singh Found Guilty of Assaulting Cops During a Procession

Hyderabad, 1st Jan. On Friday, the Special Sessions Court in Nampally, which hears cases involving MPs and MLAs, found BJP MLA Raja Singh and six others guilty in an attack on a police team.

On May 2, 2015, a wedding procession was held in Balramgally, Mangalhat, Hyderabad, during the night, with the organiser, Vijender Singh, playing a DJ music system. When Mangalhat police were alerted, they rushed to the scene and told the organisers to stop playing DJ systems, as it was against the Hyderabad city police act.

As a result of the disagreement, the organisers summoned Raja Singh, the local MLA.After receiving a complaint from police constable MB Ramesh, Raja Singh and seven others were charged under IPC sections 353, 323, and 506 of the IPC. Following that, a charge sheet was filed in court, and Raja Singh and six others were put on trial. However, charges against one of the defendants, Vikas Singh, were dropped because he died during the trial.

The Special Sessions found all of the defendants guilty of the crime, convicted them, and sentenced them to pay a fine of Rs 6,500 each.
