Goa, 2nd Oct. Boxing champion Lenny Da Gama and former Indian football defender Denzil Franco on Saturday joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Both the sports stars will be members of the party’s Goa unit. This news comes a few days after former Goa Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro was inducted into the Mamata Banerjee-led party in Kolkata.
TMC is trying to win in Goa in the upcoming assembly elections. Luizinho Faleiro said on Wednesday when he officially joined the TMC along with nine other leaders, “I have joined TMC with a mission to defeat BJP and its divisive policies, culture of intolerance and vendetta. Goa is going backward today and is facing economic slowdown. Goa is suffering a lot under BJP rule.
Faleiro had praised West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, saying the country needs a leader like her to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Luizinho Faleiro was an MLA from the Navelim assembly seat. He was made the head of the campaign committee of the Goa Congress in view of the state elections to be held next year.
