Largest Hand Made Flag of India Hoisted in Leh on Gandhi Jayanti

Leh, 2nd Oct. 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi (Gandhi Jayanti 2021) is being celebrated across the country today. Everyone is paying tribute to Bapu in their own way on this occasion.

Gandhi Jayanti is being celebrated in a very special way in the Union Territory of Ladakh also. On the occasion of Bapu’s birth anniversary, the largest hand made flag of India (Tiranga) was hoisted in Leh today. It has been hoisted in the Zanskar Valley in Leh. Its weight is 1000 kg. Its length is 225 feet and width is 125 feet. This tricolor made of Khadi has been prepared in collaboration with a printing company in Mumbai.

Army Chief MM Naravane and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh were present on the occasion of the unveiling of the biggest flag of India (Tiranga) and the program of Gandhi Jayanti. This flag will also be hoisted in Hindon on the occasion of Air Force Day on 8 October. Zanskar is a tehsil of Kargil district located in the Union Territory of Ladakh and is located on NH 301 250 km from Kargil. This valley is about 105 km from Ladakh. The Zanskar Range is a mountain range of Ladakh.
