Gandhinagar, 25th May: A man from Gujarat’s Kachchh district has been arrested for allegedly leaking sensitive information related to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) to a Pakistani agent, officials from the state’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as 28-year-old Sahdev Singh Gohil, worked as a health worker. According to senior ATS officer K Siddharth, Gohil came into contact with a Pakistani intelligence operative—posing as a woman named Aditi Bharadwaj—via WhatsApp in 2023.

“Gohil was lured into sharing photos and videos of IAF and BSF sites—both newly constructed and under construction—via WhatsApp. These were later found to have been shared with numbers operated from Pakistan,” the officer said.

During preliminary questioning on May 1, Gohil admitted to activating a WhatsApp number using a SIM card purchased under his Aadhaar identity for the agent. He then used that number to transmit media related to strategic military installations.

Forensic analysis of the digital trail confirmed the involvement of Pakistani handlers, and Gohil also received ₹40,000 in cash from an unidentified individual as part of the espionage operation.

This arrest comes in the wake of a series of espionage-related crackdowns. In recent weeks, over ten individuals—including a YouTuber, a businessman, and a security guard—have been detained on similar charges.

These developments unfold amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
